ABOUT GSHP TECHNOLOGY

GSHP (ground source heat pump) technology is not magic, but it is one of the most versatile and efficient forms of heating and cooling available today. Regardless of climate, geography, or building type, GSHP technology has proven to be efficient and effective in providing reliable indoor comfort.

Its amazing energy savings are achieved simply by capturing heat energy in one location and moving it to another. Since it is easier and cheaper to move heat energy than to create it, GSHP installations can achieve COP's (coefficient of performance) in the range of 4.0 to 7.0 depending on the number of times the captured heat energy can be re-used.

COP =Watts of energy produced
Watts of energy purchased

For example, if your building needs heat in winter, high density polyethylene piping (HDPE) installed horizontally or vertically into the earth, or exchangers supplied with water from an ocean, lake, or large water well are used as the source of your heat energy. We then capture many small amounts of heat energy, move them into the building, compound them together in a heat pump until we reach 40 to 60°C, then use it to heat the domestic hot water supply, the radiant floor heating system, perhaps fan coils, or some other forced air system.

In summer we reverse the process and capture the heat energy in your building. But before we reject that energy into the earth, why not have it sent to heat your domestic hot water supply?  more...
